บทคัดย่อ 

          การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ 3 ประการ (1) เพื่อวิเคราะห์การจัดการตนเองเกี่ยวกับป่าชุมชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี (2) เพื่อศึกษาปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการจัดการตนเองเกี่ยวกับป่าชุมชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี และ (3) เพื่อเสนอแนวทางการพัฒนาการจัดการตนเองเกี่ยวกับป่าชุมชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี
          การวิจัยนี้เป็นการวิจัยคุณภาพ ผู้ให้ข้อมูล จำนวน 31 คน ได้แก่ (1) กลุ่มผู้ปฏิบัติงานในพื้นที่ป่าชุมชนบ้านยางโทน (2) กลุ่มผู้ปฏิบัติงานในพื้นที่ป่าชุมชนบ้านห้วยสะพานสามัคคี และ (3) เจ้าหน้าที่ภาครัฐ เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลจากเอกสาร และการสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลด้วยวิธีการอุปนัย
          ผลการวิจัย พบว่า (1) ป่าชุมชนทั้งสองพื้นที่ในจังหวัดกาญจนบุรี มีการจัดการตนเองในด้านต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย (ก) หลักการประชาธิปไตยชุมชน (ข) หลักการจัดการที่มีความยืดหยุ่น (ค) หลักการทำงานแบบทันที (ง) หลักการเชื่อมโยงกิจกรรมจากทุกภาคส่วน (จ) หลักการแบ่งภาระหน้าที่ความรับผิดชอบ และ (ฉ) หลักการใช้ทุนที่มีอยู่ในชุมชนเป็นหลัก (2) ปัญหาและอุปสรรคในการจัดการตนเองเกี่ยวกับป่าชุมชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดกาญจนบุรีที่สำคัญ ได้แก่ งบประมาณ บุคลากรภาครัฐ และวัสดุ อุปกรณ์ต่าง ๆ มีไม่เพียงพอในการดำเนินกิจกรรมในป่าชุมชน และ (3) แนวทางการพัฒนาการจัดการตนเองเกี่ยวกับป่าชุมชนในพื้นที่จังหวัดกาญจนบุรี ได้แก่ หน่วยงานภาครัฐและภาคเอกชนควรสนับสนุนทรัพยากรต่าง ๆ ที่จำเป็นต่อการปฏิบัติงานในป่าชุมชน เพื่อให้เกิดประสิทธิภาพและประสิทธิผลสูงสุด
